My background and perspective

I'm not an academic, or even a university graduate. I'm a self-taught web developer who missed out on a traditional university eduction, but now thinks these kinds of questions are conceptually interesting.

As an interested outside rather than an expert, I think there's value in an "armchair" approach of exploring these ideas in an accessible and non-academic format, and I hope you'll join me in doing so.

What to expect

I started this blog basically to explore philosophical ideas, political concepts and events, and other things that interested me, independently of my existing blog, which is focused on web development. Some of it will be serious topics, but discussed in a way that should be accessible. And some of it will explore sillier ideas with a more playful tone. The intent is to sound like being in the pub and talking about serious subjects with a friend who's intelligent and well-read, but not necessarily academic.
